Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of hearty bread (sourdough, white, or multigrain)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or 4 slices of cheddar cheese)
  • 2 teaspoons Don Chilio Spicy Arbol Salsa Macha (adjust for desired heat)
  • Pinch of garlic powder (optional) 

Optional Side:

  • Crinkle-cut fries, chips, or a fresh green salad

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bread:
    1. Spread a generous layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
    2. Sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder over the buttered side for an optional extra flavor boost.
  2. Assemble the Sandwich:
    1. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, on a clean surface or skillet.
    2. Add a generous amount of sharp cheddar cheese evenly over the bread (if using slices, layer them for full coverage).
    3. Spoon 2 teaspoons of Don Chilio Spicy Arbol Salsa Macha over the cheese.
    4. Spread it lightly to ensure every bite is infused with its smoky, nutty heat. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  3. Grill the Sandwich:
    1. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. This prevents burning while allowing the cheese to melt perfectly.
    2. Place the assembled sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
    3. Flip carefully and cook the other side for another 3–4 minutes until both sides are crispy and the cheese is melted and gooey. 
  4. Serve with Extra Salsa Macha:
    1. Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for 1 minute.
    2. Slice the sandwich in half to show off that gooey cheddar pull.
    3. Serve with crinkle-cut fries or chips and a jar of Don Chilio Spicy Arbol Salsa Macha for drizzling or dipping.
